Terms of Use

These conditions govern every visit, search, and use of material on Cannon County Criminal History. Continuing to use the website means accepting all terms below. A visitor who does not agree must discontinue use.

NO FCRA USE. Cannon County Criminal History is privately operated and has no government affiliation. Neither the website nor its advertising partners offers a service for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other decisions regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The resource points visitors to criminal-record offices in Cannon County and Tennessee. It is neither a private investigation firm nor a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This private reference site operates independently of government. It does not store official criminal records, retrieve them for visitors, conduct official background checks, or submit filings.

Its role is limited to identifying Cannon County custodians, including the sheriff and jail, the criminal courts, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and the Tennessee Sex Offender Registry, along with optional outside tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use is permitted only if the visitor agrees not to:

  • Interfere with access or degrade website performance
  • Use a bot, scraper, or other automated collection tool
  • Attempt unauthorized access to any system or account
  • Use the material to stalk, threaten, or harass a person
  • Rely on site content for hiring, housing, lending, or insurance decisions
  • Violate federal, Tennessee, or local law

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

No site content or linked result may be used to harass, stalk, intimidate, threaten, or unlawfully discriminate against anyone. Such conduct may also be criminal. The rule is especially important for Tennessee Sex Offender Registry information: TBI warns that retribution, added punishment, harassment, stalking, threats, or intimidation can lead to criminal prosecution or civil liability. Registry data supports public-safety awareness, not vigilante conduct or discriminatory treatment.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Cannon County Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA. It creates no credit report, background check, or consumer report. Its advertising partners are not presented as services for applicant, rental, insurance, or credit decisions. Site or linked data may not be used to:

  • Set insurance terms or evaluate creditworthiness
  • Approve, reject, or review a rental application
  • Make an employment decision
  • Determine eligibility for a permit, license, or public benefit
  • Serve any other purpose regulated by the FCRA

A legally required check must be obtained through the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation or a screening provider that complies with the FCRA and the applicable authorization.

5. No Legal Advice

Content is general information, not legal advice. Only a licensed Tennessee attorney can advise how a charge, conviction, warrant, or expungement law applies to an individual matter.

6. No Warranties

All content is supplied "as is," without a promise that:

  • Outside search results will be complete or correct
  • Every page will remain free from defects or security flaws
  • Service will always be available without interruption
  • Information will be current, complete, and accurate at all times

Charges, dispositions, sealing orders, and expungements can change the public record. Publication may lag. No website statement replaces confirmation from the Cannon County clerk, sheriff, TBI, or another originating office.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may open sheriff, court, Tennessee agency, legal-resource, or outside search websites. Those services are beyond our control. Their operators alone are responsible for availability, content, data practices, and charges, so visitors should review the destination's terms.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Cannon County Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, altered, distributed, or used to create derivative material without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim liability for damage arising from use of the website, its content, or any linked service.

10. Indemnification

A visitor agrees to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, demands, and proceedings caused by that visitor's use or breach of these terms, including related legal costs.

11. Governing Law

Tennessee law governs these terms, including applicable provisions of the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act, T.C.A. §§47-18-101 et seq. A dispute tied to website use must be brought in a court located in Tennessee.

12. Changes to These Terms

Revised terms become effective when the updated text is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be restricted or ended at any time and without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay effective. The affected language will be limited only as much as necessary.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be submitted through the Contact page.
